CHANGE

I’ve had some tricky clientele lately & I would like to share the process.

Last week I had a lady stop in wondering if I could help her (she seem pretty desperate) so i agreed. She explained that she had moved here around 2 years ago, and that she had been driving over 6 hours to get her hair done. Being new to the area she didn’t know where to go. Id say in early fall she finally she broke-down & went to a salon somewhere around this area. She had a pretty specific color she was looking for, a dark root melting into a almost burgundy tip. pictured below was her ins pro photo.

She explained to me she was blonde going into the appointment and during the concatenation she said she wanted the dark top to be close to her natural level. she said the cosmetologist was eager to get started and turned her away from the mirror and went to work.

she was in the chair for a little over 3 hours before she was able to see what the outcome of her hair was. she was shocked. it was very dark on top and very much copper on the ends. something went very wrong. she went home in shock. this was not what asked for. after a couple hours in panic she called the salon and asked to get it fixed. which they were happy to do. here was the 1st and 2nd attempts at the color.

Now that its been a couple months…. she has some new growth, and because she was colored to much darker than she wanted there was a definite line. much darker than her natural color.

This is where her hair journey begins transforming back to blonde. first we talked about all the possible outcomes of what could happen and we agreed that no matter what this will be a multiple session service. once i figured out what my plan of attack was. I got started.

First we did a deep clarifying treatment to help remove any color that wasn’t strong enough to hold on and would just be in the way during the lifting process. Then mixed up a bowl of kenra Beyond Bond Lightener. one scoop with 3 ounces 30 volume developer . Then i went in and heavy sliced foiled from the occidental bone up. leaving small sections out for a low light which i used kenra 6NUA with 10 volume developer. I placed the lightener only on the dark line to start. once i completed that i went back in and placed the lightener on the end. I waited for a few minutes then started checking the foils because at this point we should have some really good lift happening. BUT….. we did not! The end were turning Hot pink and the dark wasn’t budging. This picture doesn’t do it justice.

I thought well i will go back through every foil and place new lightener on the whole strand. Once i completed that I decided that we will give it 10 minutes and check it out. At that point I felt like the hair probably needed a break, so we washed everything out. her whole head was blonde, brown, copper, and pink. I told her we were going to glaze she hair with a color closest to the now lightened brown line till next time. we had prior talked about the length of her hair and she wanted to go short.

With all things considered the end result after 6 hours was amazing!!
